Most of this past weekend was spent working, just as I predicted I would. I think I give myself too many things to try to accomplish in one day. Most days, my 'to do' list is unmanagably long. Saturday, I accomplished 75% of what I set out to do and I only got that much done because Matt came in and helped out. I didn't finish everything I wanted to because I broke a pyrex tube in my hand as I was trying to load it into a furnace. Forcing glass is never a good thing. So not only did I lose the two hours it took me to prep that sample, but I also started a small fire because the sample powder was exposed to air for too long. After that, I just cleaned up and went home for the day. I was far to frustrated with my mistake to work on anything anymore that day. Oh and I forgot to mention, that halfway through the day when I had just finished with one of my projects, I ran downstairs to see if the building next door was unlocked. As soon as I was out of the physics building, the fire alarm started going off. I immediately started freaking out. I thought that maybe I made some mistake and caught the lab on fire. It was the first day that I was working in the building by myself, what was to say that I had not forgotten to put something in its proper place and blew the whole lab up. So I was seen running at full speed back into the building with the fire alarm blaring, just to get back up to my lab to make sure everything was okay. which it was, everything was okay. it took the fire department ten minutes to come and turn off the alarm, apparently there wasn't a real fire. if there had really been a fire though, we could have blown up half the campus by the time the fire department actually arrived. not a very comforting thought if you ask me.
Sunday, I reworked the sample I ruined on Saturday without event. Then I hung out with my new friends Jen and Christie. They made some kick ass food. Christie is a musician, she is actually pretty good, www.christielenee.com, and she has decided that she wants to teach me out to play guitar so I got my first lesson Sunday night. I can play a very slow 'inspector gadget' theme song now. she is letting me borrow a guitar and gave me finger movements for homework. We walked around the block of their apartment looking for fireworks that night but didn't see any. they decided they wanted to have some fun in a manner that I don't agree with, so I decided that was my cue to head outside, grab my Harry Potter book and sit on my car. They eventually came back outside and we chatted until I was super tired, then I headed home.
monday i slept in. i needed it. spent most of the day just playing around with the borrowed guitar. i had to run into work four about an hour then i headed off to the coffee shop to listen to really bad 'open mic' music and journal.
i sat through two meetings on monday and my 'to do' list at work grew by two feet. i have to take friday off from work to go home for a couple of doctors appointments, so i have to complete a foot of this list tomorrow.
i have been hanging out and talking quite a bit with jacki lately. its been nice. i talk to her almost as much as i talk to amy. before any thoughts get started in anyone's head, there is nothing happening between us. we're just friends. we had a 'girls night' last night, ate junk food and watched movies. it was nice to have someone keep me company. all of my other friends seem to be busy with their own lives and worries right now.
also, it seems that i missed steph's birthday. so... how about i give a choice of b-day presents: 1) i'll take you out for a night or 2) i'll watch lillian for a night so you and whoever can go out...
alright, i'm exhausted, this is long enough...

You missed it? No biggie. Really.
What ever happened with the frozen soy milk? Was it any good, or should I try frozen yogurt next time? --S
Steph, I have eaten my fair share of the silk mint chocolate chip ice cream. Let me tell you, just thinking about that stuff gives me minty fresh breathe....
