I have had a mellow day. Instead of getting to work at a decent hour, I decided to sleep in this morning. I made it work about thirty minutes before our lunch lab meeting. I had just enough time to chug down one cup of coffee, collect my notes, and get a cup of coffee ready for the meeting. Beyond being bored to death listening to my friend Grant spend 45 minutes discussing five power point slides on thermal conductivity calculation parameters, I spent the majority of the rest of my day taking inventory and shopping for the lab. By shopping, I don't mean the fun kind of shopping wandering through stores, this shopping was wandering through catalogs and company websites while writing up purchase orders for everything we need to stock for the summer. I was pleased by the end of the day because I was able to cross a few tasks off of my 'to do' list.
By the end of my work day, I wasn't quite ready to go home. I called the house where my two favorite little boys live and asked if I could come over. They gladly told me I could come and occupy the boys. So tonight, I was hugged, loved, tickled, covered in spilled milk, wrestled with, and cuddled... One of the happiest sounds in my world is hearing those boys giggle.
