I spent the last few hours with my parents. They drove over to have brunch with me for my birthday. The realized that there was no way in hell that I would be able to get home for my birthday with my exams this week, so they decided we would celebrate my birthday today. Mom justified it by saying that if this wasn't a leap year, my birthday would be today instead of tomorrow. So I had a protein packed brunch with them, so now I have more than enough brain food to keep me going for the rest of the day. I also had the opportunity to show them around the physics building, since I'm here seven days a week almost every week. I showed them the lab I'm working in and Dad was shocked at how small it is. Yes, they are cramped quarters but I don't really mind. It is a rare occasion when everyone is in the lab on the same day so it really doesn't feel as cramped as it could. I explained what some of the machines did and what some of the procedures we use to accomplish our tasks and Mom was pretty impressed with it all. I don't think my Dad really understands why I'm so interested in all of this but he is proud of me nonetheless. It was important to me to show them where I spend most of my time and where I could be spending the next five years of my life.
I just sat down to study. I really should get to it.
