I have survived my first week in the lab. There was a definite mixture of "I-can-handle-this" and "I-am-in-over-my-head". I spent much of the week reading papers that have been published on the research I am doing. When I was not reading, I was trying to put together a vacuum furnace system. I am almost done with that. I am supposed to be making a sample today. I am a little nervous about it. Its a rather long, tedious process. If I make one mistake, the sample is trash. We shall see.

I played golf on Saturday, it was surprisingly fun. Laura, my golf boss, called last Tuesday and wanted me to play in her last charity event for the year. I cannot say no to her, so I did. It was the most relaxing round of golf I have played in years. Granted, I am incredibly sore and sunburned, but I am happy that there is still a possibility for golf to be fun for me.

Amy and I are talking much more. We are planning to see each other in two weeks, when she finally gets done with her teaching year. We have not seen each other since the middle of March.

I am thinking of changing my template. There are many new templates available on blogger now.

I also dropped the "almost" in the title sometime last week because I finally graduated and am technically a physicist now.
