I won $2.25 in quarters today... the best 9 quarters I have earned in a long time. My parents emailed me a couple of days ago to ask if they could come and visit. With the new semester starting, they wanted to be able to spend some time with me before I get swamped with work. I took them to the college bookstore where they both found things to purchase, then we got a quick lunch, and made it to the golf course in time to practice a bit before our tee time. So Mom, Dad, and I played 9 holes today. Dad and I have a running bet. When we play, we play for a quarter a hole. The person with the lowest score per hole wins the quarter. If you tie, the next hole is worth 50 cents and so on. I won all nine holes today with a final score of one over par for the day. Not bad for someone who doesn't play anymore. Dad was a bit frustrated. Mom was happy that she had some good shots during the day. After paying up his 9 quarters, Dad decided that I needed groceries so we stopped at the store on the way home. I couldn't convince them to stay longer than that. It was a good visit.
I don't understand why I had such a good visit with them and I am still in a funk...
I found out yesterday that my new position at work will most likely include grading exams and homework for the 10 different general physics lecture professors. bleh. not looking forward to that.
Tonight, I dug out my high school yearbook and spent the whole evening 'googling' people from high school. It seems that I am the only person I know from high school that is 'google-able'. For those of you who do know my first and last name, 'googling' will give semi-correct contact information for me at the university. I am mildly disappointed, but not surprised, that I wasn't able to find anyone else so easily.

On the bright side of things for a moment, my university is giving me the option of applying for federal hurricane disaster relief grants. If I can prioritize well enough, I might get a decent little grant...

Tomorrow.... Tomorrow I want drink a lot of coffee, read books, listen to the radio, clean up my house, and clean up my mind. Get ready for the new semester.

Hey chica, sorry about the school news. Sorry I couldn't be there for you more on Friday night. Sorry about the very stinky hug... I am glad you came out, but I would have understood, you know. And what's this - no goodbye - then you call and chat up my girlfriend... I'm so jealous. Just trying to make your day a bit more light-hearted... If you need to talk one night - now may be a good time for the beach...
