a list or two

I am too grumpy and emotionally exhausted to write a real post so here are some events from this week:

1. Turned in quantum homework, this was the set of homework I was bitching about in the last post. It is the first set of homework that have truly half-assed this year. Upon attending class, discovered that the rest of the class could not solve the problem I neglected to attempt. Glad I didn't waste my time on it.

2. Completed quantum homework due on Friday (today) three days early.

3. Tried to persuade Amy to let me visit her in Jax. Was told it was not a good week for me to visit Jax but that she is thinking about coming down to visit me this weekend. I'm not holding my breathe.

4. Had the wind (virtually) knocked out of a hope that I have been holding on to for a year.

5. Inadvertently got into a debate with a fellow (non-athletic) physicist on Title IX and the merits of participating in sports. He believes that all women's sports should be abolished and that if women want to play sports they should try out for men's teams. This debate was started when I mentioned that I had read a survey published in Sports Illustrated on how the average american feels about gay people participating in professional sports. I am contemplating writing a commentary on said Sports Illustrated article. Just not today.

6. Reconnected with a friend 1 from childhood who I haven't spoken to in six years. It went better than expected.

7. Reconnected with a friend 2 from high school as a result of conversation with friend 1.

8. Got some samples running in the lab. Narrowly avoided a few major mishaps in the process.

9. Over-analyzed conversation pertaining to #4 on this list.

10. Tried brainstorming ideas for new hobbies... something that will require me to be creative... I'm not coming up with much of interest

11. Received some very random mail this week in the form of wind-up hopping lederhosen via my friend elleinnad. Thanks so much, it definitely put a smile on my face.

This weekend:
- waiting for tax return to be posted to bank account
- when tax return is posted, will buy apple powerbook and a plane ticket to chicago
- write very boring research/term paper for quantum that I haven't been motivated to start yet

Hey - I know you called me earlier this week, and I'm sorry I haven't gotten back with you. I have been a bit overwhelmed this week, and it has spilled into my weekend. I'll see if you feel up for breakfast on Sunday...

What happened RE #4? I hope it works out some other way, anyhow.

Dana, I can't do breakfast tomorrow. A friend of mine wants me to look at apartments with her... Keep me in mind for next week though, by then I should have time.

Steph, you want to know what happened RE #4... all I am going to say is that we both finally came to the realization that she will never be forgive me. Who knows where we will go from here...

I actually gasped when I read it. I'm sorry. I really was hoping things would come back around. Let me know when you have time for a lunch or dinner...
