why do leasing agents and property managers think they are gods? i mean, honestly, i have been a good tenant for three years, why wouldn't they want to do everything in their power to make sure i'm happy enough to resign my lease for another term? my dad thinks its because they can charge a shit-load more money in rent to a new tenant, who doesn't know any better. i have to agree with his theory. i've spent the last 6 weeks trying to come up with different scenarios as to how i could stay in the apartment complex if not my apartment, each and every one was turned down by the property manager, and we are not talking about outrageous requests. i think the first request was that i wanted to downsize into a one bedroom but they said they wouldn't let me do that because i will only be here for another 9 months and they only allow "transfers" for 12 month leases. so then my next option was staying in the two bedroom i have now, without any roommates, or my washer and dryer. i got the run-around for weeks while i was trying to get them to nail down a new rent for this option. they finally wrote me a letter friday afternoon with the information i was requesting (which is nasty in and of itself because any questions or responses i might have won't be dealt with until monday) and posted it on my door, so i got home to this nasty letter after they had already closed for the weekend. rather devious of the assholes, if you ask me. so i wrote them a nasty letter back telling them their estimate was wrong and why. i got a phone call today half way through the day saying they weren't changing their standpoint. so i went apartment shopping today and i should be signing new papers for a complex around the block first thing tomorrow morning. and once i'm settled with that paperwork, i'm tempted to place fliers all over campus telling the college community what assholes the apartment complex is. if they aren't worried about losing my business, maybe i can help them lose a bit more business than just me so they will open their damn eyes and see they don't rule the whole world, only two damn blocks of it.
