There is a hurricane headed this way.
The projected path of Charly changed this morning, the eye is supposed to pass right over me. The university has decided to close for two days due to the hurricane and possible power outages. My prof told us to shut everything down except two machines, one of which is never supposed to lose power. So I have spent the majority of today trying to put my projects on hold, finding ways to keep them safe until I can work on them again, and shut down all but two of the machines in the lab. I hate that I am losing two and a half days of work. I have a lot that needs to get done before the fall semester starts on the 23rd. Now, because of Charly, I cannot get any work done until Sunday. Bleh, its just bad timing, the hurricane should turn around and come back in a week. I'll be happy to have a hurricane come through during the first week of classes.
I got home a little while ago in order to clean and prep my apartment. I have decided not to try to weather the hurricane here, I will be much better off in a sturdier establishment so I'm traveling with Jacki to her parents' house an hour east of here. Right now, I'm waiting on Jacki. She's supposed to come over bearing tape so we can tape up my windows and sliding glass door, then I have to go back to the lab to shut down half a dozen machines, then we are off to fight the evacuation traffic. It should be loads of fun.
