A fellow female physicist who works in a lab down the hall from me accompanied me to the local 7-Eleven. We both needed a break and a Slurpee sugar kick. Neither of us are big Mt. Dew fans but she decided on a Mt. Dew Slurpee. Her justification:
“The phase transition from liquid to slurpee enhances the flavor.”
I laughed at our nerdiness all the way back to the lab.

Shuddering at the thought of consuming a Mt. Dew slurpee.
Why the shudder? It really did taste good but I cannot imagine what kind of sugar high she experienced as a result of consuming 32 ounces of it.
